What is PWM?

PWM stands for pulse width modulation, meaning fans with this feature have the ability to fluctuate speed and be controlled based on component temperature.  The motherboard will have to have a PWM header to support this feature as well as software to help configure settings.  4-Pin PWM fan cables will plug in just fine to regular 3-Pin headers but will operate at a standard speed.

What this cable does?
